Hi, I’m Cindy, the creator of Deconstructing with Jesus. This space is dedicated to exploring faith, deconstruction, and healing.
My deconstruction journey began in 2015 when I began to see the majority of evangelical Christians embrace Donald Trump—including people who had once taught me that character and integrity mattered. The disconnect between the faith I had been raised in and the values I believed Jesus embodied led me to start questioning what I had always been taught. I left the Republican party the day Trump became the presumptive nominee.
A few years later, I was experiencing deep spiritual abuse while navigating the most difficult transition of my life—leaving a marriage that had become unsafe. Walking away meant not only rebuilding my life as a single mom but also losing a faith community that prioritized control and appearances over truth and well-being. That experience shattered the foundation I had built my faith on, forcing me to untangle what was real from what was harmful.
Deconstruction has been painful, but it has also led me to a deeper understanding of freedom, compassion, and truth. I’ve learned that faith should never be a tool of control or fear—it should be a source of healing, justice, and love.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and am currently in the first year of my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My academic background, combined with my personal journey, gives me a unique perspective on the intersection of faith, mental health, and healing from religious and relational trauma. As a single mom, I also understand the challenges of navigating faith shifts while raising children in a way that prioritizes emotional and spiritual well-being.
My goal with Deconstructing with Jesus is to create a space where people can question, heal, and rediscover faith without fear.
