Deconstructing With Jesus is a space for honest questions, thoughtful reflection, and the freedom to explore what you believe. It’s not about finding certainty again. And it’s not about pretending to fit into a box that was never big enough to hold the complexity of being human.

What Do We Mean By Deconstruction?
The word deconstruction can mean different things to different people. For some, it means questioning long-held religious beliefs. For others, it means examining the ways culture, institutions, family, politics, or religious leaders have shaped what they were taught to believe.
Here, deconstruction means being willing to take a closer look.
It means asking where our beliefs came from, examining the assumptions underneath them, and being honest when something no longer makes sense. It means allowing ourselves to wrestle with difficult questions rather than forcing ourselves back into certainty simply because uncertainty feels uncomfortable.
Deconstruction isn’t about tearing everything down just for the sake of tearing it down. And it doesn’t require everyone to reach the same conclusions.
For some people, deconstruction leads away from Christianity. For others, it leads to a different understanding of faith. Some reconstruct their faith around beliefs that feel more honest and life-giving. Others remain somewhere in between.
There is room here for that complexity.
You are allowed to examine what you believe without knowing where the examination will lead.
You Don’t Have to Fit in the Box.
Religious systems often create boxes.
They tell us what a “real” Christian believes. What questions we’re allowed to ask. Which interpretations are acceptable. What we should think about other people. What doubts mean about our faith. Sometimes, they even tell us who we are allowed to become.
But people are complicated. Life is complicated. Faith is complicated.
And perhaps some of the problems begin when we expect all of that complexity to fit neatly inside a box.
Jesus himself challenged religious systems when they placed rules, status, purity, or appearances above people. Again and again, he pushed past boundaries that others treated as sacred and called people to move toward the ideals of love, compassion, justice, mercy, and truth.
That’s the Jesus we want to follow here.
Not a Jesus confined by the boxes religion has built around him, but the Jesus who disrupted religious systems when they stood in the way of love.
You don’t have to fit in the box to follow Jesus.
And you don’t have to pretend you fit to belong here.
Who Is This Space For?
People find their way to deconstruction for all kinds of reasons. Some end up on sites like this one because they’re in the middle of an existential crisis. Others are looking for answers to a question they can’t stop thinking about. Maybe some of these reasons resonate with you:
